2023 Labor Day Work Party Full, and Summer Work Recap

The last of this summer's work parties September 1 - 3 is full.

As Summer VP Sylvan announced on his Aug 14 VP blog post, snow stake setting and wood splitting is on the agenda. The confirmed crew is dominated by those with the last name of Fisher: Nathan & Tommy, Adam, Kiri & Eski. Additional crew members are: Lin He, Gabriel Jiang, Bob Pennell, John & Kathlyn Lazzareschi, Rick Reeder & Natalie Shuttleworth, plus the VP himself.

and in a whirlwind of work managed:

-New paint in bedrooms and dining room

-New 10yr smoke and carbon monoxide smoke detectors

-paint touch-ups to deck, front walkway, snowblower shed, and southern facing wall

-electric ovens repaired

-snowblower repaired (Thank you Rick Sobilo!)

-lots of general maintenance, repairs, cleaning, organization (too much to list)

Perhaps the most prominent new project (which you may have read about in Summer VP Sylvan's blog post,) Ken installed the new escape June 24-25 with the help of a small OSC crew.

Ken's custom design is stronger, has improved roof clearance, and is twice the size. The ladder is now bolted into the wall to reduce icing and pressure from walls of snow (friendly reminder that members, if able, should shovel the porch roof around the fire escape after large storms). Special thanks also to Rick Sobilo who fabricated the new steel pieces in his metalshop, including the braces, the floor grate, and the guardrail.
