It’s the New Year and winter is well underway. We are beginning to accept new members into the OSC as they complete their winter visit qualifications. It is my pleasure to announce new members:

Andrew (42) and Tracy (38) Ickes live in Kensington near the Colusa Market with their daughter, Eliana (4).

Andrew is a mechanical engineering research scientist and Tracy is a commercial litigation attorney. They met in Ann Arbor, MI dancing the Argentine tango. Subsequently, they moved to California 5 years ago and began the process of applying for OSC membership. Just as they were about to sign on the bottom line, Tracy discovered she was pregnant. They waited until Eliana was old enough to enjoy the Lodge and snow before submitting their application. They are looking to find a low-key base of operations for weekend adventures and meeting people who share similar interests. Andrew can, apparently, fix just about anything! [photo attached]

Rong Chen (43) and his daughter, Jinzhu (14) joined as members after visiting several times as guests of OSC members, Pat Callahan and his daughter, Eileen (14). .

Rong is a Senior Software Architect with Cadence Design System. Both he and his daughter are very adventurous and are looking to spend more time on the slopes skiing. They are excited to meet other club members that share similar passions of skiing, basketball and SCUBA diving.

Matt Spiel (38) and his son, Oliver (10) live in Alameda.

Matt is a digital product designer who grew up in Arizona doing lots of outdoor activities but not winter sports. He is looking for a base in the mountains where he and Oliver can explore and participate in both summer and winter mountain sports. Matt plays the guitar and sings. Hopefully, we can encourage more of that at the lodge.

Mateo Soltero (52) lives in Oakland with his children, Caleb (17) and Sadie (13) near the intersection of Manila and College Avenues.

Mateo is an accountant. He stopped by the OSC booth at the Solano Stroll this year and couldn’t wait to get up to the Lodge for the New and Prospective Member’s Weekend. Sadie is a whiz at social interactions and loved getting to know all the kids while Caleb fixed the Foosball Machine-Hooray! See Sadie’s article elsewhere in the UPSKI.
